Le Grand Large is the iconic address of Sagone beach. With its terrace directly on Esigna beach, stunning views over the gulf and wonderfully friendly staff, this seaside restaurant never disappoints. Come for lunch between swims, and return in the evening to enjoy the sunset over the gulf.
The menu is simple and generous: pizzas, crepes and fresh fish of the day. Don't miss the sole meuniere, absolutely delicious and among the finest you'll taste on the west coast. A complimentary myrtle liqueur at the end of your meal is a lovely Corsican tradition. Pizzas also available to take away.
Run by Etienne Grisoni, a native of the Deux-Sorru valley, Le Grain de Sable offers 28 wood-fired pizza recipes and Corsican mussel specialities - mariniere, curry, roquefort or Cap Corse style - enjoyed under the shade of plane trees. The shaded terrace facing Sagone bay is one of the finest in the region.
Dishes are generous and made with fresh, seasonal produce. The squid ink risotto with prawns, tuna tartare, or simply the wood-fired pizza are favourites with regulars. Complimentary myrtle digestif at the end of the meal. Musical evenings from mid-June to late August. Open all year round.
Run by Jean-Louis and Emilie Cinotti since 2016, Le Santana has established itself as the gastronomic benchmark of the Gulf of Sagone. Set directly on Santana beach, its terrace offers a spectacular panorama over the gulf with sunsets that alone justify the booking. The setting is refined, the atmosphere genuinely romantic.
The menu, focused on the sea and Corsican terroir, changes with arrivals: Corsican fish rillettes, basil-crispy scampi, blue crab with cream, homemade pasta with langoustines, creamy risottos, generous desserts. A well-known favourite among locals and savvy visitors, Petra Marina has been an unmissable family address at Sagone port since 2007. Michele runs the kitchen; Marina, Petru and Jean-Pascal handle the front of house. The daily blackboard menu changes according to arrivals and production. The family raises their own cattle and grows their vegetables: Corsican veal prepared in its entirety, entrecotes from their own farm, homemade courgette fritters, hand-cut chips... All-day service - perfect if you're returning late from a boat trip. Corsican evenings every Tuesday in summer.
Tucked just beyond the pierced Ancone tower, a stone's throw from Liscia bay, the Auberge d'Ancone is one of the finest gastronomic surprises in the region. Pascale Meudec has transformed the family home into a discreet inn where you immediately feel at home. The shaded terrace and beautiful garden offer peaceful views over the sea with magnificent sunsets.
The short, entirely homemade menu changes with the seasons and arrivals: excellent fish soup, bianchetti fritters, stuffed squid, sauteed veal with olives, Ajaccio-style cuttlefish, storzapretti, spice-confit lamb... U Cunventu is a true gem set in an 18th-century convent dating from 1704, at the foot of the great church of Sari d'Orcino. The vaulted stone dining room and shaded terrace facing the wooded mountains offer a completely unique setting. Nestled in the heart of Piana village, this family restaurant offers a panoramic view over the Gulf of Porto and the majestic Calanques - the sunset from the terrace is simply spectacular. The short daily blackboard menu celebrates fresh, local produce: duck magret, beef tournedos, burrata, Corsican charcuterie. Desserts are outstanding: chocolate mousse, chestnut fondant, reinvented lemon meringue tart. Opened by a young owner in tribute to his grandmother Josephine. Reservation strongly advised.
